The Adventures of BigWood & LittleWood

The Adventures of BigWood & LittleWood, shown as a printed picture book: two smiling cartoon trees and a fox ranger stand on a forest path between a wildfire on one side and a green, protected forest with a cabin on the other.
New — a children's picture book

Steve's newest project isn't a spray rig or a patent — it's a picture book. The Adventures of BigWood & LittleWood tells kids how forests grow, how wildfires start, and how they can help keep the woods safe.

Two talking trees and a fox ranger walk a forest path with a wildfire on one side and a green, protected forest on the other — four decades of hard-won fire knowledge turned into a story a six-year-old can follow.

No. 03 — The Story

From union carpenter to fire-tech inventor

Steve Conboy started his career swinging a hammer as a union carpenter in New York. More than four decades in the lumber and building industry followed — and with them, a front-row seat to what fire does to wood, homes, and the people in them.

The last chapter of that career became its purpose. Steve turned to fire science, convinced that the industry's toxic retardants were a problem masquerading as a solution. His answer was a new kind of chemistry: food-grade, plant-based, and safe enough to earn the EPA's Safer Choice label — while still stopping flame in its tracks.

Through Wildfire Pro Shop, Mighty Fire Breaker, and CitroTech, that chemistry now protects homes, communities, vineyards, and job sites across wildfire country — deployed through on-property spray systems, mobile tankers, and a growing network of wildfire defense professionals.

CitroTech® — fire defense, without the poison

CitroTech® is a patented fire-retardant chemistry built from food-grade ingredients — corn derivatives, potassium citrate, xanthan gum. No ammonium, no phosphates. Sprayed on vegetation, wood, and structures, it keeps protecting — letting plants breathe and rain pass through — while denying fire the fuel it needs.

Safe by design

EPA Safer Choice certified and UL GREENGUARD Gold certified, with non-toxic, non-hazardous chemistry verified by California aquatic bioassay and 90-day trout toxicity testing.

Proven against flame

CitroTech-treated materials have earned ASTM E84 Class A and ASTM E2768 fire-performance certifications — the standards that matter to builders, insurers, and fire officials.

Deployed at scale

From smartphone-activated home spray systems that build a “moat and dome” of defensible space, to backpack sprayers, atomizing cannons, mobile tankers, and vineyard protection kits.

No. 05 — Milestones

Two decades of fire science

2015–17

The formula

After years of fire and mold research, Steve develops the core CitroTech® chemistry — a non-toxic binding chemistry that keeps retardant adhered to wood and vegetation — and files the first patents in a family that has grown past 40 granted patents.

2019–22

The certification

Steve leads a years-long dialogue with the U.S. EPA on eco-safe retardant standards, culminating in EPA Safer Choice certification — followed by UL GREENGUARD Gold certification for exceptionally low chemical emissions.

2023–24

The recognition

Mighty Fire Breaker is named EPA Safer Choice Partner of the Year — two years running.

2025

The scale-up

CitroTech-treated materials earn building-code and fire-performance certifications (DrJ TER, ASTM E84 Class A, ASTM E2768), and CitroTech lists on the NYSE under ticker CITR.

2026

The storefront

Steve opens Wildfire Pro Shop — Tahoe's first wildfire defense store — at 889 Tahoe Blvd Unit A in Incline Village, NV, and leads it as CEO, with additional locations planned for South Lake Tahoe and Truckee.
